About

Hi!  Thank you so much for stopping by!  My name is Angie, and I am passionate about figuring things out.  :)  A few years ago I got my first DSLR.  I saw the images coming out of my camera, same as everyone else’s with a ‘nice’ camera.  I just knew I could figure out how to turn them into professional images.

I spent many-a-nights on Google searching for information on how to improve.  I scoured message boards, subscribed to online forums, and read countless tutorials.  Once I figured out my camera, I knew I needed to learn the tricks of Photoshop.  I needed to learn how to add some polish to my pictures. (‘Polished Picture’, get it?!)

It took me months of research to refine my Photoshop skills.  There are plenty of websites with Photoshop tutorials.  For me, the problem was wading through all the irrevelant ‘stuff’ to find the few gems of info.  Online forums were the same.  I learned so, so much from online photography forums (and would definitely recommend them!), but again I had to sift through pages and pages of information and chit-chat to find what I was looking for.

Eventually I pieced together all the info I needed to become proficient enough to start my own business, booking more clients than I ever imagined possible.  But that was after hours and hours (and hours!) of research, practice, and trial and error.

That leads me to this site you are on now.  :)   My hope for this site is that it will provide you with the information you are looking for on your quest to learn to polish your own pictures.  I hope to have it organized in a way that what you are looking for is easy to find (see my Start Here! page for the organization breakdown).  You won’t (hopefully!) have to sift through pages of irrevelant information in order to build your reporatoire of Photoshop skills for portrait photography.

I am certainly not proclaiming to be an expert, but I will share with you what I have learned and discovered through trial and error.  I hope you will share your Before and Afters and your tips and tricks as well (you can share on Polished Picture’s Facebook Page – and who knows – I just might make a post on it!).  And if you know of a better way to do something than what you’ve seen here, please let me know so I can post it!  I certainly love learning new things.  And I’ve got lots of posts lined up for you, it’s just finding the time to publish them!

Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top.  Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead.  Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage.  Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.  (Philippians 2:3-4, The Message)

Thanks for stopping by, I’m so glad you’re here!
